Caroler - Event Expectations

Arrival

  • Please be at least 30 minutes early.

  • Be dressed and ready to go.

Travel

  • Please carpool where possible.

  • For any event where the travel is more than 60 miles round-trip (from the City Center of your market), let your City Director know if you're going to have to travel alone. The City Director will need to acquire pre-approval for your travel expenses.

  • See Travel Reimbursements for more information.

Event Behavior

  • Needless to say, your professionalism and entertainment quality is critically important to our company and to our customers.

  • Event Rules (some should be obvious):

    • Smile. Bring Cheer. Say, Thank You and Merry Christmas!

    • Look-up, remember, entertaining is more important than singing perfectly. If you can do both, GREAT.

    • Please don't chew gum

    • Do not accept gratuity ("tips") - unless they insist. In other words, say, "that's not necessary, but thank you!!"

    • Do not accept food - unless they insist and it's out of the public's or party attendees' view).

    • Stay in costume until the end of the performance. Unless they've provided a place for you to change clothes, please change elsewhere.

Getting Paid

  • Only approved Carolers can perform at an event.

  • You MUST complete the Caroler Feedback form for each event. This form is used to calculate your pay each Friday. NOTE: There is a $10 administrative fee for any caroler that does not turn this in by the end of the day (midnight) on the day of the performance. You may think that's harsh, but we don't want to have to revisit the details of a past event once we've closed the payment books on it each Friday.

  • Paydays are on Fridays. We pay Carolers using the Cash app. If you perform an event on a Thursday (and you turn in your Caroler feedback form), you'll be paid the very next day. If you perform on a Friday, and turn in your form, you'll be paid the next Friday.

Costumes (see costume guidelines)

  • Every Caroler must be in costume unless instructed otherwise.

  • Costumes must be approved by your City Director.
